Black Stars: Ghanaians react to Asamoah Gyan's refusal to give captain's armband to Andre Ayew

Andre was seen on the touchline taking a different captain's armband from an official of the Black Stars, fuelling speculation that indeed, there is a rift between the two leaders of the senior Ghana national team.

It has been reported severally that Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan and his deputy, Andre Ayew are having a rocky relationship at the camp of the Black Stars due to who should lead the national team.

Ahead of their 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Ethiopia at the Kumasi Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Sunday, Asantehene, Osei Tutu II, urged the duo to throw out any unwelcome negative media reportage if they want peace reign at the camp of the national team.

Both players starred in the game against their Ethiopian counterparts, with Gyan particularly grabbing the headlines yet again after he recorded his 50th goal  - a match Ghana eventually won 5-0.

The 30-year-old was later substituted in the 65th minute for striker Majeed Waris. With the usual norm of giving out the captain's handband to the deputy captain, Gyan walked straight to the Black Stars bench, still wearing his 'customised' armsband.
