Minority Leader Haruna Iddrisu has warned the National Democratic Congress (NDC) will fiercely resist President Akufo-Addo's flagship free Senior High School (SHS) policy without proper financing.
Speaking at an NDC unity walk/rally in Tamale Saturday, Mr Iddrisu accused the government of rushing to implement the programme for political gains.

According to him, the free SHS is a political gimmick.
He explained that the NDC was not against the policy but said the right structures must be put in place to ensure its sustainability.
He ended his speech by calling on the president to rethink the policy and also promote a national dialogue on the policy.
The free SHS policy will start on Monday, August 11 in all secondary schools in the country beginning with first-year students.

In addition, the government has released 50 percent of the money for the programme to begin.
