This is the kick-off time the Ministry of Youth and Sports has recommended for the Kotoko-Hearts final
The Ministry of Youth and Sports has instructed the organisers of the MTN FA Cup which is a subcommittee of the Ghana Football Association to reschedule the time for the Kotoko-Hearts of Oak final on Sunday.
All roads will lead to the Tamale Sports Stadium when Asante Kotoko face Accra Hearts of Oak on Sunday in a historic FA Cup final.
The kick off time for the game is 5:00pm, but the Ministry of Youth and Sports in a statement signed by the deputy sector Minister Pius Hadzide has ordered the time to be shifted to 3:00pm.
"This has become necessary after considering all the safety precautions and taken into account the long distance to be traveled by fans and supporters of the two clubs from Accra, Kumasi and other parts of the country," the letter read.
A curtain raiser has been arranged between Lepo Ladies and Northern Ladies, but it is in danger of being called off.
It would be recalled that the Commission of Inquiry set up to investigate the causes of the May 9 disaster that claimed the life of 126 fans after a Hearts-Kotoko league game in 2001 recommended that matches between these sides shouldn’t come off under flood light.
Hence, this move would violated that recommendation.
