An Accra High Court has dismissed an application filed by a member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Saka Salia, seeking an interlocutory injunction to stop the privatisation of Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG).
The Court presided by Justice Efua Novisi Aryene said the applicant had no direct interest in the matter and that he is not the only citizen to suffer when the privatisation process is carried out.
Saka expressed disappointment in the ruling, ‘It’s much more disappointing, I will consult my counsel, I think the case is not over yet’, he told Kasapa news’ Daakyehene Ofosu Agyeman after the ruling.
Mr. Salia filed a writ against the Millennium Development Authority (MiDA), saying the Public Regulatory Commission (PURC) and not MiDA the body with exclusive mandate by law to provide guidelines for determining tariffs and levels of tariffs, and in doing so in the manner prescribed by Act 538.
