The Teacher Trainee Association of Ghana (TTAG) has directed their members both students and mentees to clad in red dresses to the classrooms from Monday to Friday to press home their demands.
The Association has given the various principals and headmasters a five day ultimatum to come out to deny or otherwise if government has indeed given them (principals) their one semester feeding grant arrears.
It indicated that the Vice President Papa Kwesi Amissah-Arthur during his campaign tour at the Fosu Training College said government has released money for the payment of the arrears to the schools arguing that they have not received any money to that effect.
The Association threatened to march to the various principals’ offices if by Friday nothing is being done about their plight.
Speaking on Abusua FM’s Abusua Nkommo hosted by Kwame Adinkrah, the Acting President of the Association Mr Jonathan Apam explained that their members have been instructed to clad in red dresses to the various classrooms.
According to him, the students are unable to concentrate when lectures are on going because they are cash-strapped ever since government scrapped their allowances off.
‘We don’t know if the money is with our principals, Ministry of Education, Ghana Education Service (GES) or government is deceiving us. Today we are going to clad in red dresses to the classrooms, and our dining halls, everything will be done in a peaceful manner, we will not vandalise any property or cause commotion, the red attire is a reminder that we have not received the money and we are at a road map where we cannot take it anymore,’ he said.
He called on the government and all educational stakeholders to provide them with the needed details.
