Chiefs of Assinman Traditional area of the Central region have threatened to close down the country’s immigration school located in the area.
The chiefs complain of bad faith on the part of government as since the inception of the school in 1998, the area is yet to benefit from admissions and other packages promised them for the land and other buildings given government for the establishment of the school.
Addressing the media in Assin Fosu, President of the Assinman Traditional Council Nana Amoah Kuntin condemned the continuous sidestepping of the indegenes when it comes to admissions into the school with the government failing to grant them protocol admissions promised them as part of the conditions reached in releasing the buildings and lands to government for the school to begin.
Other monetary compensation due them he adds, have also not been paid.
He noted that appeals for the situation to be addressed has always fallen on death ears with government always trying to outwit them.
He reiterated that for instance, some 3000 recruits were brought there to be trained with the school telling the chiefs those were Liberians brought for refresher course only to notice later that they were Ghanaians.
Nana Amoah Kutin explains that the chiefs will mobilise the youth to disrupt teaching and admissions in the area tomorrow if government does not address their concerns.
