It was songs and words of heartfelt gratitude in all three homes visited by Naa Klordey Odonkor and her team for the Naa Charity closet yesterday.
The first stop of the thirty member team made up of volunteers, friends of Naa Klordey Odonkor and colleagues from Ultimate FM was at the Chechire home a drug and mental health rehab center at Kwadaso, a suburb of Kumasi.
Items donated to these homes included Bibles, bags of rice, drinks, clothes, shoes, exercise books among others.
The buses stopped with clothes, toiletries, bags of rice, drinks, oil, confectioneries, and books.
Administrator of the home Owusu Adjei was elated the closet had shown so much love to a home which was dejected and stigmatized by society.
Inmates of the rehab center were overjoyed to receive their Christmas packages and expressed their gratitude.
The team made its next stop next door at the Edwinase Rehab for children with special needs at Kwadaso. The home which nurtures children with multiple disabilities and special needs in handicrafts and vocations were already waiting with bated breath before the team made its stop.
Director of the rehab center, Modesto Ayi Woli was awe struck at the kind gesture.
Perhaps the most enduring but rewarding part was a travel to the Patmos Childrens home atAdanse Asokwa; an hour plus journey from Kumasi.
Naa Klordey Odonkor crowned the trip by adopting little Doris Sarkodie whose upkeep will from thence be catered for by Naa. Well seven year old Doris couldn’t bottle in her gratitude.
The mother of the home was overwhelmed by the kind gesture, a gesture they perceived were outstanding among others so far received.
The host of Ultimate Brunch and Lunch told ultimate news her motivation for the gesture and indicated that it wasn’t going to be the last.
‘As a family, Ultimate Fm being a part of EIB network and brand Naa
We thought that Christmas is a time of Sharing and not everybody would get the opportunity to get a gift or food or something.
There are people who do not have that opportunity and so we thought that it would be better if we visited and celebrate Christmas with them.
In whatever environment that we are operating we have to be impactful,’she said.
The gallant volunteers who stood with Naa all through the day shared their experiences on the philanthropic project.
Colleagues of Ultimate fm who were on the trail were proud to be part of the team.
It was a day well served. And for the Naa Charity Closet, the Team Naa, all the people who donated clothes, food items and cash, those who helped launder and package the giveaways and all the volunteers that joined this well meant trip; Our reward was the smiles on the faces of all the orphans and special people who received a gift for Christmas.
