The National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) has gone to aid of victims of last week’s fire disaster at Tumu in the Sissala East District of the Upper West region.
NADMO through the assembly presented nine mattresses, 16 blankets, 16 buckets and 16 basins, 27 plates, 54 cups and 8 mosquito nets to the victims.
The District coordinating Director Mr. Salifu Kanton stated that it was a decision of the disaster management committee of the district to offer the support to the 10 displaced persons.
He however disclosed of the resolve of the assembly to shift its focus from offering support to disaster victims to educating the public on the prevention of disasters by NADMO.
The district fire officer DOII Anthony Appiahtse advised residents to always put off and unplug all electrical gadgets and appliances before leaving for work and before they sleep to avoid a repeat of what happened.
Madam Addiza Millani who took the items on behalf of the beneficiaries expressed gratitude for the gesture and was thankful for the assembly, the committee, NADMO and the whole of the community who came to their aid during the fire incident.
