Fire on Wednesday dawn razed down six shops in the old Sekondi Market in the Western region.
In an interview with Ultimate news’ correspondent Emmanuel Ohene Gyan, the security man on duty Kwesi Amissah narrated that the fire was caused by a power surge which occurred around 3:am.
According to the security, the corn mill operator within the old market forgot to switch his machines off during the power outage.
He said the corn mill cut fire when the power resumed spreading to the other shops.
Some of the victims whose wares worth millions of Ghana cedis got burnt are calling on government and philanthropists to come to their aid.
The fire service has launched investigations into the inferno.
