We are suffering from insomnia- Captain Mahama’s school mates

Some old students of Saint John’s Senior High school in the Western region have bemoaned lack of sleep and restlessness following the death of their school mate Captain Maxwell Mahama at Denkyiraboase in the Central region.

Captain Mahama was mistaken for an armed robber on Monday, pelted with stones and burnt to death at Denkyiraboase on his way from jogging by an irate youth who claimed robbers have been terrorising residents.

Paying a glowing tribute to him, the school mates described him as a rising star and a very respectful person who accorded respect to his juniors as well.

“I saw the picture on our WhatsApp group and thought he was being promoted to another level so I just watched the picture and went to bed. Then around 1:am, a friend called me from the U.S and said this is what has happened to him, ever since I have had insomnia, I have not been able to sleep. He was a very vibrant cadet member, very respectful to everyone even the juniors. It’s very said that he had to leave us this way,” Christian, a friend of Mahama said.

Some of his friends and the old boys took to social media expressing lack of sleep and the appetite to eat.

The old students in a statement said,’We are indeed shocked and devastated over what is un-folding right before our eyes on social media. It is extremely difficult to believe that this has happened on the soil of Ghana, our dear Motherland. We condemn in no uncertain terms the callous lynching of Captain Maxwell Mahama Adam, a perfect gentleman, a rising star and a member of the Class of 2004′.
