Georgina Wood is a ‘humorous’ person- Diana Asonaba Dapaah

A law lecturer at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) Diana Asonaba Dapaah has remarked that the outing Chief Justice Her Ladyship Georgina Theodora Wood has a great sense of homour aside being highly principled.

According to her, Her Ladyship who is seen to be powerful in the country is an exciting person to be with.

She dispelled public perception that her Ladyship is a ‘no none sense’ woman who is difficult to deal with and not approachable.

Lawyer Diana indicated that her Ladyship crack jokes with people she works with saying people doubt when told that she even laughs.

‘She is God fearing and has a great sense of humour that people close to her can attest to and I believe that she will be greatly missed for pushing the judiciary by bridging the gap between judges and lawyers as a whole. The lawyers will say ten years is no mean an achievement. She has a very great sense of humour even during occasions where she is serious, she laughs with people, yes she is disciplined, she doesn’t lose her sense of humanity,’ she said.

Eulogising Her Ladyship on Abusua FM’s Abusua Nkommo hosted by Kwame Adinkra, Lawyer Diana Dapaah said the latter is a disciplined and highly principled person who cannot be compromised on issues relating to corruption.

She corroborated that there is no way her Ladyship will cover up corrupt practices.

‘I have worked with her Ladyship Georgina Theodora Wood before, there are two things that make her stand out, she is a disciplined and highly principled person. You cannot compromise her, once she makes her mind,…its impossible to change her mind. Anybody who has worked with her will say she is very disciplined and will not kowtow to any corrupt practices and will not cover up any corrupt practices,’ she said.

The Law Lecturer praised her Ladyship for taking the judiciary to a different level of greatness.

She remarked that Her Ladyship’s tenure witnessed majority of judges pursuing graduate studies.

‘I think I speak for most lawyers, when I say she will be greatly missed, she has taking the judiciary to a different level of greatness. Particularly, her contributions in terms of the scholarship at the bench, subsequent to her work in Kenya,… she made sure most of the judges were trained by taking graduate studies. It is during her tenure that we can boost of lots of judges pursuing graduate studies like LLM, masters programmes in various fields to endow them with the necessary expertise to perform their duties,’ she remarked.

Her Ladyship Georgina Wood retires today after ten years of service and Justice Sophia Akuffo takes over from her.
