Security capos at the Economic and Organised Crime (EOCO) today (Monday) failed to eject an embattled Deputy Commissioner of the Electoral Commission of Ghana (EC) Madam Georgina Opoku Amankwaah from office.
Madam Georgina was instructed by EOCO not to step foot in her office until investigation is into alleged corruption is completed.
She, through her lawyers wrote a letter to EOCO that she cannot stay in the house for months and that she was resuming work.
Contrary to EOCO’s instruction, she resumed work compelling the investigative body to storm the EC head office in Accra.
The election management body which was on break resumed Monday January 15, 2018.
Madam Amankwaah was spotted making some calls whiles the armed security personnel who were dispatched to evict her were pace up and down in her office.
She said she has been on leave for the past six months and cannot be victimised for something she has not done.
‘I close at 5:pm, its not 5pm yet so I won’t go out, I will come to work tomorrow and if the office is locked, I will break through,’ she said.
She left her office unaccompanied.
The EOCO is investigating the three EC Bosses at the behest of the President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo after he was petitioned and he later referred the matter to the chief Justice.
