Members of the Pro New Patriotic Party (NPP) vigilante group in the Ashanti Region Delta Force yesterday (Saturday) April 21, 2018 clashed with the police during the party regional elections held at Ejura Agriculture College.
The clash begun when a police officer denied a member of the group access to the counting area.
The action of the police officer angered other members of the Delta Force who were at the scene at the time the incident happened.
The police officer was attacked by members of the group which forced some police officers to retaliate to defend their colleague.
The clash between the members of the Delta Force and the police officers created tension at the election center forcing some party delegates to leave the place.
It took the intervention of the Ashanti Regional Minister Simon and Ashanti Regional Chairman of the NPP party Bernard Antwi Boasiako popularly called ‘Chairman Wontumi’ to calm down members of the Delta Force while the Deputy Ashanti Regional Police Commander DCOP Fred Adu-Anim also calmed down the police officers to ensure peace.
No arrest has been made so far.
