Nigeria and Fulham forward Samuel Chukwueze has suffered a personal loss following the death of his mother, Mrs Sarah Chukwueze.
The news was confirmed on Thursday through emotional posts shared on Instagram by his brother, David Chukwueze. While the Fulham attacker is yet to issue an official statement, his brother paid tribute to their late mother and indicated that the family is still struggling to come to terms with the loss.
The development was also confirmed by Nigerian football journalist Poojamedia, who noted that Chukwueze had continued to perform for both club and country despite his mother’s illness.
“Super Eagles winger Samuel Chukwueze has lost his mother. He has been in a strong mental state playing for the Super Eagles and Fulham while his mum was very sick,” the post read.
The tragedy comes just two days after Super Eagles captain Wilfred Ndidi lost his father, Sunday Ndidi, in a road accident in Delta State.
Both players featured for Nigeria at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, where the Super Eagles finished third.
