Austria midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka is expecting a competitive and entertaining encounter when his side faces Ghana in an upcoming international friendly in Vienna.
The match, scheduled for Friday, forms part of Austria’s preparations for the 2026 World Cup, with head coach Ralf Rangnick using the fixture to assess his squad against non-European opposition.
Chukwuemeka, one of the new faces in the Austria squad, has already settled into the team’s environment during their training camp in Marbella and is looking forward to the challenge ahead.
“I simply expect it to be exciting,” he said, speaking ahead of the clash with the Black Stars.
The Dortmund midfielder’s comments reflect the anticipation within the Austrian camp as they prepare to face a Ghana side also using the fixture to fine-tune ahead of the World Cup.
Austria will head into the game with confidence, having built a strong home record in recent months, while Ghana will be aiming to test themselves against European opposition.
The match will mark only the second meeting between the two nations, with their previous encounter ending in a 1-1 draw in 2007.
