Manchester United manager Michael Carrick has stressed that English midfielder of Ghanaian descent, Kobbie Mainoo, is an important player for the team.
According to him, young players like Mainoo are the foundation of the Manchester-based club.
“This club needs young players coming through. They're the FOUNDATION of the club,” the manager said ahead of Manchester United’s clash with Arsenal this weekend.
Carrick added, “You've seen last week what Kobbie can bring! I started working with Kobbie when he was 13 or 14 years old when I was doing my badges⦔.
Meanwhile, Manchester United have reportedly begun the process of engaging Kobbie Mainoo over contract renewal talks. Transfer Insider Fabrizio Romano has disclosed that the contract talks will be a key topic soon.
Kobbie Mainoo, who was heavily linked with a possible move away from Manchester United, has recommitted his future to the club since the arrival of Michael Carrick.
Sources report that the youngster feels important and believes he will enjoy regular playing time at the club under the new manager.
