Ghanaian defender Maxwell Woledzi has shared why football remains an important tool in unifying people from all walks of life.
The 24-year-old moved to Nashville SC in the winter transfer window from Norwegian club Fredrikstad.
Woledzi met his new teammates a couple of weeks ago after travelling to the US to begin pre-season ahead of the 2026 MLS campaign.
In his first interview with the club, Woledzi expressed delight in meeting his teammates while also sharing what football means to him.
"For me, football means togetherness. When I came to Nashville I saw different people from different countries, from different cities coming together. It's brings people together and it is more of a community thing," he said.
"For me, without football I will never meet someone like you, a player from Canada, a player from Mexico, even players from Chile and for me without football that togetherness will no be there."
The towering centre-back made his unofficial debut for the Tennessee-based club in their pre-season friendly against Chicago Fire last week.
