Didi Dramani has set a clear target for Hearts of Oak as they prepare for their Week 21 clash against Bechem United, stressing the need for brave and smart football.
The Phobians will face Bechem United at the University of Ghana Stadium on Sunday, February 1, with kick-off set for 3:00 pm. Hearts go into the game after winning two of their last three matches and are hoping to build on that run to move closer to the top of the table.
Speaking on Hearts of Oak TV, Dramani highlighted the importance of courage and decision-making on the pitch.
"I think that first of all, first of all, what we need to engineer is players having the ability to play with courage. You know, we don't instill on confidence. We instill on playing, you know, with courage. Once we are courageous to to to take the risk to play, you know, playing means that you have the courage to to make certain decisions on the pitch,"
"And I think that for us, we engineer that more than just asking the player that play with confidence. We ask you to play with courage so that the risk elements you'll be more responsible to that and then and then find because we want to play a game that is cognitively embedded. Cognitively embedded in the sense that we want to solve problems. We want to make right decisions.
"We want to have the right attention and awareness. We want to have the pattern recognition and then we want to have memory in terms of our anticipation and our reactions. Then we have to stay very resilient and that is why I said the game is all about cognitively embedded because every decision that we make on the pitch has to be something that is deeply thought about and so that is the type of football we want to play.
"We want to play a football that will solve problems. We don't make decisions as coaches. When the game is on, it's players who make decisions and they solve problems. We give them the cues to be able to solve problems when they happen on the pitch and then we are very sure that in terms of their education is why we want to improve every time and we want to grow as a team."
