Ghana midfielder Thomas Partey will wear the No. 18 shirt at Saudi Pro League side Al Shabab following his move to the club.
The 33-year-old has signed a one-year contract with Al Shabab after leaving Villarreal at the end of the 2025/26 season. The Saudi club officially announced his arrival on Friday.
Partey’s choice of number has a familiar connection to his career. He previously wore No. 18 during his first season at Arsenal after joining the Premier League club from Atletico Madrid in 2020.
The Ghana international spent five seasons with Arsenal before moving to Villarreal in 2025. He made 32 appearances for the Spanish club last season before his contract expired.
Partey now begins a new chapter in Saudi Arabia, joining Al Shabab as a free agent on a deal running until June 2027.
The move takes him into the Saudi Pro League after more than a decade playing in Europe, having started his European career with Atletico Madrid in 2013.
Partey won the Europa League and UEFA Super Cup with Atletico and later moved to Arsenal in a reported â¬50 million transfer. He now brings his experience from La Liga, the Premier League and European competitions to Al Shabab.
He will wear No. 18 as he starts his first season in Saudi football.
