The Catch Them Young Referees of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) will take centre stage when the second edition of the MTN Elite U-19 Championship gets underway at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram.
A total of 20 young referees selected under the Catch Them Young Referees policy will officiate during the 11-day competition.
The group consists of 10 referees and 10 assistant referees, allowing the officials to gain valuable experience in a competitive environment.
The championship runs from August 24 to September 4, 2026 and features 10 U-19 Regional teams competing for the title.
With some of Ghana's most promising young footballers involved, the tournament is expected to provide a demanding test for the emerging match officials.
The young referees will be responsible for ensuring matches are conducted fairly and professionally while applying the Laws of the Game.
Their involvement forms part of the GFA's efforts to develop refereeing talent from an early age through its Catch Them Young initiative.
The MTN Elite U-19 Championship therefore represents an important stage in their development.
