The family of the late Apostle Emeritus Professor Ing. Kwadwo Safo, together with the management and members of the Kristo Asafo Mission, has expressed profound gratitude to Ghanaians for the overwhelming support, goodwill and encouragement extended to them throughout the funeral and final transition of the renowned industrialist and religious leader.
The family’s appreciation was conveyed by the late Apostle’s daughter, Sarah Adwoa Safo, during a thanksgiving service held at the Prempeh Assembly Hall in Kumasi, to mark the conclusion of the funeral rites.
Addressing a large congregation comprising members of the Kristo Asafo Mission, friends, sympathisers and admirers of the late Apostle, Adwoa Safo commended Ghanaians for standing firmly with the Kantanka family throughout the funeral period.
She said the immense show of solidarity from individuals, institutions, traditional authorities, religious organisations and the general public had provided significant comfort to the bereaved family and contributed to giving the late Apostle a befitting final transition.
The thanksgiving service attracted several prominent personalities, including former Vice President and New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, who paid tribute to the late Apostle.
Dr Bawumia described Apostle Kwadwo Safo as a father figure who regarded him as one of his sons and consistently offered him counsel, encouragement and guidance.
He recalled the late Apostle’s strong belief in the ability of Africans to solve their own problems, create opportunities and confront challenges with confidence, innovation and determination.
According to Dr. Bawumia, the life and works of Apostle Safo demonstrated the importance of self-belief, enterprise and the determination to develop homegrown solutions capable of advancing society and empowering the African continent.
He said the late industrialist’s contributions extended beyond his religious work, noting his commitment to technology, industry and national development as important aspects of his enduring legacy.
Dr. Bawumia was accompanied at the thanksgiving service by his Chief of Staff, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu; former Minister of State in the Kufuor administration, S.K. Boafo and former Kumasi Metropolitan Chief Executive, Sam Pyne, who is seeking to become the First National Vice Chairman of the NPP.
Other dignitaries, members of the Kristo Asafo Mission and sympathisers also attended the service to honour the memory of the late Apostle.
One of the notable moments during the thanksgiving service was the appearance of a rainbow in the sky, which generated excitement among members of the congregation.
Many worshippers responded with fervent prayers, with some interpreting the rainbow as a symbolic and comforting moment during the final transition of the late Apostle and as a reflection of the joy and peace with which his earthly journey had come to an end.
The thanksgiving service brought together the Kristo Asafo community, family members, friends and sympathisers to celebrate the life and legacy of Apostle Emeritus Professor Ing. Kwadwo Safo.
The late Apostle was remembered for his contributions to religion, technology, industry and national development, with speakers and members of the congregation highlighting his faith, ingenuity, entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to Ghana’s development.
The family said the support received from Ghanaians throughout the funeral process had been a source of strength and comfort, as they brought the funeral rites of the revered industrialist and religious leader to a close.
