Kweku Bany – From Connect FM’s Community Street Rap Battle to Mentor champion
Connect FM has chalked another milestone as one of the chaps discovered from its flagship programme – Community Street Rap Battle – has been crowned as the 2020 Winner of TV3’s Mentor.
Kweku Bany was the 1st Runner-Up in the first edition of the Community Street Rap Battle, which was subsequently won by Chichiz, who also became the 1st runner-up in Mentor Reloaded in 2019.
Kweku Bany was crowned winner on Sunday, December 27 after a fiercely contested battle with colleagues including Semenhyia, Netty, and Ayeyi.
His prize includes a brand new car, GH¢10,000, and GH¢50,000 worth of airtime across all Media General platforms and a 2 mastered songs.
The Connect FM Community Street Rap Battle is organized among young and upcoming artistes who are selected from the various communities in the Western Region to battle each other in a rap competition, which comes with juicy prizes.
Since its commencement about 3 years ago, the competition has been producing and propelling talents across the Region and has produced great talents such as Chichiz, Kweku Bany, among several others.
Kweku Bany, a first-year student of the Half Assini Senior High School, was also signed on by a waste management company as an ambassador during the rap battle competition after becoming the 1st runner-up.
Semenhyia, who was the 2nd runner-up during the Mentor finals has been a regular artiste as he performed during the Sekondi and Kojokrom final events of the Community Street Rap Battle.
Station Manager for Connect FM Ransford Nana Osei Asare was happy that the station through its programmes has impacted positively on the people, thereby bringing out talents.
“We are excited about Kweku Bany’s achievement.
“Everybody who has been following the Community Street Rap Battle will attest to the fact that even though he was doing his music, it was actually the Rap battle which gave him exposure,” he stated.
He further reiterated that the achievements of Kweku Bany, Chichiz, Semenhyia and the rest of the talented products who were discovered through the Community Street Rap Battle are a clear indication that the station is making a positive impact in the lives of the people, adding one will get the exposure he or she needs to succeed as far as rap battle is concerned.
He used the opportunity to encourage the people to participate in the next edition of Connect FM’s Community Street Rap Battle to unearth their talents.
