Bawku Central lawmaker Mahama Ayariga, has been acquitted and discharged by the Accra High Court.
Mr Ayariga was standing trial for alleged procurement breaches in an ambulance purchase.
His lawyer, Godwin Edudzi Tameklo confirmed this to TV3’s Johnnie Hughes in a telephone conversation on Friday May 7.
Mahama Ayariga together with six others were charged by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) for contravening the procurement Act.
The seven were acquitted and discharged by the High Court, presided over by Justice Afia Serwah Asare-Botwe, after it upheld a submission of no case filed by the defence lawyers. They pleaded not guilty to all charges.
the Bawku Central member of parliament and six others including MCE for Bawku Hajia Ninchema were dragged before the court for allegedly engaging in procurement breaches including importing ambulances without following due process as stipulated by law.
