The Ghana Institute of Planning (GIP) has elected and sworn in a new slate of national executives to steer the affairs of the Institute for the next term.
The elections took place during the 54th Annual General Conference and Meeting (AGCM) in Tamale. Pln. Percy Anaab Bukari (FGIP) was overwhelmingly endorsed as President, reaffirming the confidence members have in his leadership and transformative vision for the Institute.
He will be supported by:
- Pln. Kofi Kekeli Amedzro – 1st Vice President
- Pln. Dr. Benedict Arkhurst – 2nd Vice President
- Pln. Kenneth Yao Kettor – Honorary Secretary
- Pln. Wilfred Ebo Sam-Awortwi – Assistant Secretary
- Pln. Anthony Kanyi-Foli – Treasurer
- Pln. Jalil Ali Mahama – Public Relations Officer
A notable highlight of this year’s elections was the introduction of a new executive role-Chairperson of the Women in Planning (WiP), aimed at strengthening gender representation and advancing the empowerment of women within the planning profession.
This newly created position was won by Pln. Dr. Eunice Yorgri, who becomes the first to occupy this historic office.
In addition, Pln. Ruth Agyeiwaa Badu was co-opted onto the National Executive Committee as Assistant Public Relations Officer, bringing her expertise and commitment to the leadership team.
The newly elected executives pledged to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, advance the Institute’s advocacy efforts, and promote relevance and excellence in planning practice across the country.
They also committed to deepening member engagement, strengthening institutional partnerships, and elevating the visibility of planners in national development processes.
