'Confront social challenges with seriousness'
Sekondi (W/R), Jan. 22, GNA—The Western Regional Minister, Mr Ebenezer Kwadwo Teye Addo, has underscored the need for heads of institutions to tackle challenges in the region with seriousness to improve on the living conditions of the people. He said the region was confronted with myriad of problems, including poor health and educational facilities, bad roads, erratic water and power supply, weak human resource base, illegal mining, chieftaincy and land litigations. “We must be duty-bound to confront these challenges head-on to improve the living conditions of the people,†he stressed. Mr Aidoo said this at the Heads of Department meeting held at the Regional Coordinating Council in Sekondi, to take stock of last year’s activities and strategise for the year. He urged the various heads of institutions to share information to enhance service delivery in order to achieve set goals, saying, “no institution lives in isolation.†The Minister indicated that although accusing fingers were always pointed at politicians and bureaucrats for corruption, the problem could be reduced by attitudinal change of the entire citizenry. The Regional Chief Director, Mr Christopher Anyiba, called for cooperation and support from institutional heads to accelerate national development.
