Kumasi (Ash), Jan 1, GNA - The Catholic Metropolitan Archbishop of the Kumasi, the Most Reverend Justice Gabriel Yaw Anokye, has urged Members of Parliament (MPs) to vigorously engage their constituents on all critical national issues.

Kumasi, Jan. 1, GNA – Night vigil at packed Christian worship centres and street partying was the way residents of the Kumasi Metropolis ushered in the year 2014.
He said 2014 was a year Christians must increase their prayers, request for wisdom and to expect answers to prayers from the previous years rather than moving from one place to the other seeking men of God to pray for them.
He said in a New Year message that Ghanaians should eschew laziness, reject corrupt practices and selfishness and live in unity and added that political differences and ethnicity must never be permitted to hold the nation back and threaten its stability.
Members of the various churches freely mixed with first-timers to sing praises to God, danced and waved white handkerchiefs in appreciation of the gift of life.
“Anyone found culpable in this regard should be punished without fear or favour…all Ghanaians should support the President to eliminate this cancer of corruption from our body politics and the economy as a wholeâ€,
He said some churches had shifted from the focus and the core mandate of soul winning and evangelism as ordained by Christ to speeches of riches and wealth for personal aggrandizement to the detriment of the salvation.
He said the concept of brotherliness had broken down in society and this had created disunity.
He said workers should be more productive and support the government to address the many challenges facing the country.
Mr Charles Abubakar, a Nurse, told the GNA on Wednesday in Tamale that the babies, seven girls and four boys, were doing well.
He said people who relied on human beings were bound to face problems since these contacts could sometimes be limited.
He called on Ghanaians to live decent lives in the new year for the glory of God to be upon them in all their endeavours.
He said: "2014 starts as a year of many things and I believe that many developments will be experienced in spite of the challenges 2013 experienced."
The children were drawn from Effutu Ansaful, Gomoa Aseibu and Pomadzie in the Central Region.
According to him although 2013 was tough in terms of finances, the ensuing year would be tougher and would take those who understand the word of God to survive the times.
He enlisted the prayers of the religious society for divine support to build on the vision of the Government to achieve prosperity for all.
Speaking at the crossover service to usher in 2014, he said this would help lift them out of poverty to fruitfulness,

Most churches were filled to capacity as the worshippers came in their numbers to observe the traditional December 31st watch night services.
