Accra, March 22, GNA - Mr Vincent Sowah Odotei, Member of Parliament for La Dadekotopon, on Wednesday launched a yearly mid-term assessment examination for all public primary and junior high schools, in the constituency.
Mr Odotei said the initiative which is specifically targeted at public Primary and Junior High Schools (JHS) in the La Dedekotopon Constituency was worth Ghc30, 000 yearly and would be funded through the fund allocated to him as MP under the GETFUND as well as his personal resources.
The strategic initiative was to help school children prepare towards competitive examination, raise the standard of education as well as work towards differentiating the educational system yearly in the Constituency.
Mr Sowah, who is also the Deputy Minister Designate for Communication, said he wanted every child in the Constituency to attain a level of excellence in their education and thus encouraged the students to study hard for higher results.
He said the Constituency was poised to investing in infrastructure and teachers, adding that assessment to all public kindergarten schools in the Constituency would also be made free in a month’s time as part of the initiative to revamp quality education.
He expressed the hope that with the introduction of the mid-term assessment examination in the constituency, pupils would take advantage of it and put in their best to excel in their academics.
Mrs Bernice Aduo Addae, Municipal Director of Education of La Dedekotopon, in an interview told the GNA that the initiative covers pupils from class one to students in JHS two.
She said the assessment would commence with preparation towards exams in the first term educational curriculum and proceed with the mid-term assessment examination in the second term as well as amendment of the student’s mistakes in the exams.
She, however, noted that Burma Camp Schools in the constituency were exempted from the mid-term assessment examination this year because they had written theirs already, but would take part in the coming years.
