Accra, March 20, GNA – The Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) has warned its waste contractors to be up to the task or have their contracts revoked.
The AMA gave the warning at the presentation of its 2018 Performance Appraisal Report of the eight contractors assigned to the job.
The Assembly has a five-year contract agreement with the waste collection service providers from 2016-2021, under a Fee and Performance Agreement Based Solid Waste Collection.
The Agreement requires the contractors to provide the adequate waste infrastructure to ensure a clean Accra.

mandated to register all premises in their respective service zones to aid in the supply of quality waste bins (plastic or metallic) for enhanced service delivery.
The contractors were also to undertake maintenance of designated sanitary sites, collaborate with relevant departments to ensure clean environment, innovate to promote recycling, and improve on market waste collection.
