The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has released the first instalment of financial support to clubs competing in the 2025/26 Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League, reinforcing its commitment to developing women’s football in the country.
Each of the 20 Premier League clubs received GHâµ25,000, totalling GHâµ500,000. This forms part of the GFA’s broader plan to ease operational pressures on teams ahead of the new season. The entire 50% contribution from sponsor Malta Guinness has been distributed to the clubs.
The funds are expected to support club operations and complement previous GFA initiatives, which included the provision of 30 pairs of soccer boots per club, GHâµ5,000 worth of Melcom shopping vouchers, and footballs ahead of the season.
The initiative is part of the GFA’s ongoing investment in women’s football, aiming to ensure clubs are well-resourced as the league grows in competitiveness and visibility. It also aligns with efforts to enhance club structures and raise the overall standard of the Women’s Premier League.
The remaining tranches of the sponsorship package will be disbursed by the GFA in due course.
