Work is progressing steadily on Wenchi town roads in the Bono Region.
As part of the numerous compact programmes, the project aims at giving Wenchi township a face-lift to befit Municipal status as a capital.
The project would help create access routes to various suburbs of the town, and make human settlements accessible and convenient for the people of Wenchi.
To open up the geographical frontiers of the area, channels and drains are equally being constructed to check erosion and sanitation.
The project is a Government of Ghana (GoG) project, lobbied for by the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Dr Prince Kwakye Afriyie, and the Minister for Planning and also Member of Parliament (MP) for Wenchi, Prof George Gyan-Baffour, led by the Municipal Assembly and is expected to enhance economic and business activities in Wenchi.
The Chief Executive Officer for PMC Africa Construction Limited, contractor on the project, Alhaji PMC, noted that he was committed to doing quality work, as that has always been his hallmark.
He asked the people of Wenchi to be patient with him to ensure value for money.
He said: “It is better to build projects to stand the test of decades, than rushing to satisfy the hasty interest of the masses with a shoddy job.”
He referred to the popular “Rawlings Street” in Wenchi that he constructed over 20 years ago, and which is still in good shape, adding that he will deliver good work.
Alhaji PMC called for value for money in order not to short-change the citizenry.
