Zinedine Zidane took umbrage with a reporter asking ‘the same dumb questions’ regarding his Real Madrid departure as he was involved in a terse exchange after leaving the Spanish giants.
Zidane, 48, walked away from Los Blancos for a second time after a campaign in which the club failed to win a trophy.
The Frenchman penned an open letter to supporters reflecting on his second stint at the club, claiming that while he had the backing of the dressing room, he felt a lack of support from Madrid president Florentino Perez.
Madrid have since re-appointed Carlo Ancelotti as boss while Zidane mulls over his options, and the three-time Champions League winning manager was involved in a fiery back-and-forth with a familiar reporter while enjoying some downtime.
‘Mister, how are you? How is everything? Did it go wrong at the end of Real Madrid with the letter?’ the reporter asked in footage obtained by Spanish news outlet Directo Gol TV.
‘Are you still asking the same dumb questions as before?’ Zidane fired back.
‘No, only a question about the letter,’ the reporter responded.
‘You are going to ask the same questions. Your job is shameful,’ the Frenchman retaliated.
The reporter said: ‘I didn’t ask anything else, simply the question…’
But an unimpressed Zidane interrupted: ‘I know you and you know me. The same thing always happens to us. Come here, come here, come talk to me. You go.’
Zidane took the reporter by the arm and gestured to the cameraman to move away as the pair were seen walking together into the distance.
