Hearts of Oak will look to bounce back to winning ways when they host Bechem United at the Baba Yara stadium in Kumasi on Sunday.
The fixture will be played at the venue due to StarTimes’ strict broadcast schedule which means teams are sometimes required to play their home games at specific grounds to be telecast.
The Phobians have endured a miserable last seven days having lost in quick succession to Elmina Sharks and Karela United. In those two games, the club has conceded five goals and scored just twice in the process.
It is a run that has seen Hearts drop out of the top four all the way down to ninth on the Ghana Premier League table.
On Sunday when they face Bechem, there will be more pressure on the Rainbow club to deliver rather than their opponents. The Bechem-based side are a point above the Phobians and could further pull clear of the Accra giants should they manage to stage an upset.
However, Bechem are also not without their own problems. The club has struggled to give a good account of themselves when playing away from home. In fact, Bechem United is yet to win a game on the road since the season kick-started, with all of their wins coming at home.
Hearts will be particularly delighted by this stat, given the fact that the Bechem-based side are not good travellers. A win will serve as a confidence booster for the Phobians, especially with a tough run of games set to come up in the next few weeks.
However, Bechem will also be buoyed by the fact that they have always been a torn in the flesh of Hearts, having beaten them home and away last season.
With interim head coach of Hearts, Henry Wellington currently on sick leave, Edward Nii Odoom will take charge of the 19-time league champions when they face Bechem.
Odoom was in charge when Hearts lost 3-1 to Karela United in midweek, and he believes his charges will put up a better performance come Sunday.
"It seems we had a bad day. We had a very bad day in the second half. The performance was not good," he said.
"Despite that, there was a bit improvement on the players' attitude. We will improve on our performance in the next match."
The Hearts of Oak vs Bechem United game will be telecast live on StarTimes at 3pm.
