The Speaker of Parliament Aaron Mike Oquaye has set up a five-member in-house committee to probe the alleged bribery allegation levelled against some members on the Appointments Committee by the Member of Parliament for Bawku Central Mahama Ayariga.
The energy minister-designate Boakye Agyarko has been accused of attempting to offer bribes through the Chairman of the committee Joe Osei-Owusu to the minority to influence their decision to approve his nomination.
The committee set up comes on the back of a petition written to the Speaker by the Member Parliament (MP) for Tamale North Alhassan Sayibu Suhunyini, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa; MP for North Tongu and Mr Ayariga who has been leading the crusade.
The ad hoc committee members include the former Attorney General and MP for Essikado-Ketan Joe Ghartey as chairman, Ben Abdallah Banda Offinso South MP, Ama Pomaah Boateng Juabeng MP, Magnus Kofi Amoateng Yilo Krobo MP and Benson Tongo Baba Talensi MP.
