Black Starlets recorded a morale-boosting win over Division One League leaders Port City in a pre-tournament friendly, with captain Joseph Narbi scoring the decisive goal.
Narbi finished off a well-worked team move just minutes after kickoff, calmly slotting home what proved to be the only goal of the match. The early strike set the tone for a competitive contest that tested the Starlets’ organisation and readiness.
Port City responded strongly and showed why they sit at the top of Zone Three, applying pressure with aggressive pressing and structured play. Their intensity provided the level of opposition needed to challenge the national U17 side, forcing the Starlets to remain disciplined throughout the game.
The match forms part of Ghana’s preparations for the 2026 U17 Africa Cup of Nations to be staged in Morocco in April. The technical team has prioritised competitive friendlies to sharpen match fitness and assess squad depth.
The Starlets are scheduled to play Semper Fi later in the day as part of a deliberate plan to give all players adequate game time and prepare them for tournament conditions.
