The Ghana Mine Workers Union (GMWU) has inaugurated its investment entity known as the Golden Pride Savings and Loans (GPSL) Limited at Tarkwa in the Western Region.
The GPSL is to meet the financial aspirations of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), especially in the peri-urban centres, to support, expand and sustain their business.
Also, GPSL aims at improving the local economy -- particularly the mining communities as well as the district and country at large.
Mr. Johnson Boadi Asamoah, Managing Director of the GPSL, at the inauguration in Tarkwa noted that access to credit remains a major challenge to most SMEs in the country.
“GPSL has what it takes to develop products and services to meet the aspirations of these SMEs within the area where they operate,†he said.
According to him, GPSL has innovative products such as Royal Save, Sikafuturo Savings, Current Account, Mfitiase Account or Susu Savings Account as well as Premium Account to serve the people’s needs.
“Our products have been customised to meet the different segments of clientele in the market; from the chief executive officers to businessmen and women, traders, artisans, employees and other individuals,†he added.
Mr. Asamoah said financial institutions ought to expand credit to the productive private sectors to support domestic and international trade.
This, he noted, will encourage more businesses to be expanded and sustained for the socio-economic development of the district and the country at large.
“We bring to the market highly motivated and self-driven professionals and staff who will offer banking solutions at the doorsteps of our cherished customers,†he said.
Mr. William Ankrah, the Board Chairman of GPSL said: “We are here to improve upon businesses of our locals and encourage all to save with GPSL.
“We expect management and staff to receive customers with open arms --- you should have conduct with high standards of work ethics and improved productivity,†he said
