Thomas Partey's lead counsel in his ongoing legal battle, Jenny Wiltshire, has responded with a brief but firm statement insisting that the 32-year-old denies the additional charges levelled against him.
Villarreal midfielder and vice-captain of Ghana’s Black Stars Thomas Partey has been served with two additional rape charges, bringing the total number of complainants in the ongoing legal proceedings against him to four.
“Thomas Partey continues to deny all charges against him. He has cooperated with the police throughout. Given there are ongoing legal proceedings, there will be no further comment.”
The new charges were authorised by the Crown Prosecution Service following a Metropolitan Police investigation into a separate report of alleged non-recent offences said to have taken place in 2020, involving an additional woman. The allegations were first reported in August 2025.
Partey is already scheduled to stand trial in November 2026 after pleading not guilty to five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault relating to three women. Those alleged offences are said to have occurred between 2021 and 2022, during his time as a first-team regular at Arsenal.
He will appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on March 13, 2026, to face the two latest charges.
The Ghana international was first charged four days after his Arsenal contract expired in June 2025. He joined Villarreal as a free agent in August 2025 on a one-year deal with an option for another season.
His current bail conditions permit him to continue playing professionally, though he must notify police of any international travel at least 24 hours in advance and is prohibited from contacting any of the complainants.
Partey, capped 54 times for Ghana and a member of the 2022 World Cup squad, remains eligible for national team selection ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. His most recent appearance for the Black Stars came in a World Cup qualifier against Comoros in October 2025.
His contract with Villarreal expires on June 30, 2026.
