Police Ladies and Prisons Ladies will battle for the right to be crowned 2017 Sanford Women's FA Cup champions when they meet in the final at Cape Coast Stadium on Saturday.
Police Ladies are highly fancied to clinch the trophy against the Sunyani-based Prison Ladies, having won the first edition last year.
They proved too strong for teams in Southern Zone, beating competitive sides such as Anlo Ladies, Army Ladies and Immigration to reach the final.
And according to their manager, Inspector Chris Darkey, his ladies are ‘charged’ to win the title for the second time and will thus go all out to achieve that aim.
‘’We have been there before and we know how it feels like to be on top. We want to remain there and have mapped out the right strategy to beat Prisons Ladies for the third time.’’
But Prisons, who will be competing in their first final, are optimistic of causing an upset following their incredible run in the competition, besting the likes of Supreme Ladies, Northern Ladies and league champions Ampem Darkoa Ladies in the Northern Zone.
CSP Imoro, who handles the Prison Ladies, says his players are motivated to win something for themselves this season.
‘’We have never been in the league for four seasons, but we have never been in any final tried as we have. This season, we have worked hard for it and the Ladies want to have something to show for the hard work,’’
‘’Being in the final is a privilege, but winning it on Saturday will be a great honour. We are ready for it’’ Imoro told Graphic Sports.
Th winner will receive GH? 10,000.
Ahead of the final, organisers and sponsors, Sanford World Clinics will have a grand tour of Cape Coast, calling on dignitaries in the regional capital before embarking on a float with the trophy.
