Medifem Multi-Specialist Hospital & Fertility Centre is to provide a free one-year primary healthcare sponsorship package to all nine finalists of the 2018 edition of the National Science & Maths Quiz.
A press statement copied to the Ghana News Agency on Tuesday said the Medifem Hospital package will cover the competing students, teachers and the production crew during the Science & Maths Quiz and Science Festival.
Mrs Wilhelmina Banful, the Hospital Manager, Medifem Hospital, said the move forms part of the hospital’s commitment to support initiatives in the educational sector and more especially, promote the study of Science and Mathematics amongst High school students.
“We have taken the decision to support this competition because its objectives are in line with our social initiatives philosophy. Science and Mathematics are critical to the development of the nation and we must encourage our students to take them serious. Our aim is to help lift educational standards and we are doing this as part of our commitment to the future of this country,” Mrs Banful said.
Nana Akua Ankomah-Asare, the Managing Director for Primetime Limited, organizers of the Quiz, said they were delighted to be working with Medifem Hospital since there was a strong alignment between the objectives of both Medifem and Primetime.
She said “we all seek to promote the study of Science and Mathematics and we are happy that Medifem is partnering us in this regard. We believe this will not only help us cater for minor health incidents that may occur during the competition, but will also boost the morale of the contestants, who are the ultimate beneficiaries.”
This is the first time, a healthcare sponsorship of this nature is being provided for a national educational contest and it underlines Medifem’s commitment to pioneering innovations in social initiatives within the health sector.
